As an exchange student you are a current full-time student from one of our partner institutions. Our partner institution can be an Erasmus partner or a non-Erasmus partner. Exchange students do not have to pay a tuition fee for AKV|St.Joost. You can study for one semester only on our campus in Breda or 's‑Hertogenbosch and do not graduate from AKV|St.Joost. You can apply for undergraduate (bachelor) study. A good command of English is necessary.
The Erasmus programme is a component of the European programme ‘LifeLong Learning’ from the European Commission for mobility of higher education in Europe. The Erasmus programme aims to encourage cooperation among the higher education institutions of Europe. The credits earned at our university will be recognised as part of your degree programme at your home university.
An Erasmus scholarship covers a period of three to twelve months. In order to get the Erasmus scholarship, your own institution must participate in the programme and must also have a bilateral agreement with AKV|St.Joost before your mobility period abroad starts.
A study abroad within an exchange programme is a fantastic opportunity to experience life as a student in another country when gaining credits for your degree at your home university. The number of students that can participate in an exchange is limited (according to the agreements made in the bilateral).
As an BA exchange student at AKV|St.Joost you are restricted to the study areas of our international multidisciplinary minors:
For more information about the programme, please contact international coordinator Grazyna Mielech MA (email: email@example.com )
Bachelor (Erasmus) exchange students can only participate in exchange at AKV|St.Joost for a period of five months (one semester) in Winter term which starts end of August and ends in January.
(Erasmus) exchange students for Semester 1 (winter term) must enrol at Avans University of Applied Sciences before 1 May 2017.
AKV|St.Joost invites undergraduate students from partner schools to explore and develop their creativity under the guidance of professional teaching staff. All exchange students must apply and support this application with a study plan and a portfolio with recent work. Undergraduate BA students need to be in their second or third year. We expect students to be fluent in English.
Selection: there will be a selection of the best applicants for the minors.
To apply for a place as an exchange student we ask you to send by email:
If you are accepted you will receive a letter of acceptation, after which you are invited to officially enroll yourself through Avans University of Applied Sciences.
Our international BA minors and Master's programmes are in English; most of our staff and students can speak English as well. The students and teachers will do their best to help you to understand the assignments even though we expect that all exchange students can speak and understand English very well.
We do not offer accommodation or housing for exchange students. On the Avans website you will find information on temporary housing-possibilities. There are many options for arranging the accommodation but make sure that you start looking for a room as soon as possible.
When you are studying in the Netherlands make sure you are properly insured. There are certain rules concerning your healthcare insurance which you have to comply with. Also it is highly advisable to take out a liability insurance. Check the Avans website.
